The Ugandan journalist Ssuuna Golooba and the Dutch filmmaker Martin Hansen are the initiators of the project "Surprising Europe" who started this project to inform people in Africa about the reality of migrants in Europe.

It is an inconvenient truth, but it must to be told.

In all European countries the migration policy turned into a policy with clear restrictive means. Only the scale of implementation of new regulations differs from country to country. The authorities started to fight migration particularly the irregular migration, sometimes with disregard of the human rights.

The migrant is the becoming the bogeyman for everything.

The fear of islamic terrorism and globalization in general, increasing problems with the descendants of former migrants and high unemployment of low skilled workers form the basis on which populist politicians started to grow a xenophobic climate.
Many stories of our site giving evidence of this new reality.

Be prepared, before you go!

It is not our intention to discourage anybody to come to Europe but rather to ask people in Africa to weigh their options before they leave their homelands. For more information about our intention you can read "Secret Paradise" by Martin Hansen.
